Recently, the Department of Correctional Education signed a State Workforce Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Governor's Workforce Office and all other state agencies that are involved in job training. Governor Kaine created the Workforce Office under Executive Order 61. The purpose of this executive order and the State Workforce Memorandum of Understanding is to better coordinate services among the various state agencies that serve a myriad of populations. In some cases there is overlap and individuals have to move from agency to agency to receive services. The MOU also addresses responsibilities for the One Stop Centers in the communities and provides for cost sharing and use of shared space in the centers. Programs will be evaluated annually in an effort to determine the effectiveness of the various programs.
